Michael Louis invited his family and Business Academy Dean, Bruce Griffiths, to show them the remarkable new campus that is in the process of being secured for the Cornerstone Institute. This magnificent property is in a prime location within easy walking distance of Claremont station. It was formerly the headquarters of accounting firm Deloitte & Touche, but it will now be progressively transformed into a fully fledged University campus.
Cornerstone Institute fills an important niche in the higher education arena and it complies with all the statutory requirements for universities in South Africa, offering certificates, diplomas, degrees and post-graduate degrees in a variety of academic disciplines, such as business, humanities, social studies and theology. However, it is unique in that all its programmes are presented within the context of a biblically-shaped worldview, with a core focus on leadership development at all levels.
Michael, who serves as the chairman of the Board of Governors while his father, Colia Louis, serves as a Patron and advisor, is understandably passionate about the opportunity this presents to train and transform the potential of a new generation of African leaders. “Our mission is to inspire, educate and release our students to become dynamic and ethical leaders in their chosen fields so they will make a significant difference in our society and on our continent,” he says, “and with a landmark property of this scale we are confident that a new era of top quality Christian education has dawned.
